A Place to Belong

Jesus is not just a place to belong, but with him is where I belong.

At the risk of sounding dogmatic, I believe that most people in our world, including myself, are constantly in a search for a place to belong—an opportunity to be a part of something that has purpose and meaning. My life, before and after surrendering to Christ, has been exactly that. Before I surrendered to Jesus, I searched and searched for a place to belong but came up empty every time. After I surrendered to Christ, I found the place where I ultimately belong, but that hasn’t changed the effect that my own sin and sin done to me has had on my life. Before Jesus, I knew that Jesus was was a place to belong that had meaning and purpose, but now I know that Jesus is not just a place to belong, but with him is where I belong. And though the brokenness of this life remains, I live with the sure hope that God will one day make all things new and my memories of this earth will be like a bad dream. The video below is the story of how I found the place that I believe we all belong, and the reality of the brokenness that still remains.

When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
Our mouths were filled with laughter then,
and our tongues with shouts of joy.
— Psalm 126:1-2a
